What To Expect

Your professional guide will pick you up at your hotel in Shanghai at the agreed time in the morning, and then a 2-hour drive in a comfortable minivan with chauffeur will take you to Suzhou. For hundreds of years, Suzhou is well-known for preserving many charming and typical classical gardens, almost all of which are the local wealthy families' residences. Your first destination is the Master of Nets Garden. The exquisite garden is not very large in scale but the special layout of pavilions, gateways, windows and various halls enlarges the space visually and worth a visit.

Shantang Street
Afterwards, your guide will take you to Shantang Street, an ancient riverside pedestrian road with a few old stone bridges and lots of traditional residential houses. It is ideally a place to stroll, try all kinds of local snacks and pick up souvenirs. Here you will have one hour free time to explore this street and have your lunch by yourself. Of course, your guide will offer you the best recommendations according to your preference.

Tongli Town
Then a 30-minitue’s drive will take you to Tongli Water Town, an age-old but very well preserved water town with a history of more than 1,000 years. Forty-nine stone bridges in a variety of styles link the different parts of the town. Many old residential houses with typical features of South China built along the riverside. The entire ancient town is just a large scenic area for you to explore and your guide will show you around. Taking a traditional boat ride along the canal will add more fun to your trip. Just get your camera ready.

After that, your guide and driver will accompany you back to your hotel in Shanghai.
